macOS releases¶

READ THIS FIRST!

📖 Read the 0.83.0 release notes. They explain what’s new, what’s changed, and what may behave differently from previous versions.

Only ask a question or raise an issue ticket after you’ve done ALL of the above. When you do post, tell us what you’ve already read and tried. It saves everyone time and gets you an answer faster.

Most questions we receive are already answered in the documentation. Questions and issue tickets that are clearly covered by the docs may be closed without further discussion.

Latest version¶

The latest version is compatible with macOS 12 (Monterey) or later and supports both 64-bit Intel and Apple silicon Macs.

Apple Gatekeeper¶

For releases before 0.81.0 and the development snapshot builds, you’ll need to do follow these instructions when launching DOSBox Staging for the first time.

Older versions¶

These older versions are mainly provided for regression testing. You can also use them if you’re on a legacy operating system unsupported by the latest release, but the core team doesn’t offer any help with these earlier releases. Our recommendation is to upgrade your operating system and use the latest version.
